Payment for office services is due when the service is rendered. We accept cash, personal check and credit card (Visa, Master Card, American Express).

Please be prepared to provide this information to our office along with your current medical insurance information. If you have any questions when filling out these forms, please do the best you can and our staff will assist you with your questions on the day of your visit.

Digital Photography

Dr. Steinberg uses the latest technology in digital eye photography to provide the most accurate, detailed evaluation of the internal structures of the eye. With the Topcon TRC NW8 imaging system, photographs of your eyes are taken of different elements and layers within the eye, which appear as orange-red images with dark and bright spots. These images can be taken conveniently at the time of your appointment.

This allows Dr. Steinberg to document and track how your eyes are changing and to better anticipate and treat disease. Images may be taken of the optic nerve, vitreous, retina, macula and blood vessels to evaluate their health. Dr. Steinberg may compare these images to earlier images of your eyes to determine the extent of damage over time.

Humphrey Field Analyzer

Manufactured by Zeiss®, this device is the gold standard for glaucoma diagnosis and management, as it measures the entire area of peripheral vision while the eye is focused on a central point. It detects subtle visual field loss that might otherwise go undetected. During this test, lights of varying intensities appear in different parts of the visual field while the eye is focused, and the perception of these lights is charted and compared to healthy eyes of the same age in order to determine the extent of damage.

Patients with glaucoma may undergo this test on a regular basis to determine how quickly the disease is progressing. In addition to glaucoma evaluation and diagnosis, the Humphrey Field Analyzer can also used to follow and detect conditions within the optic nerve and various neurological disorders.

OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography)

The OCT machine enables Dr. Steinberg to look into and under the retina, giving a detailed cross-sectional view of the eye's internal structure. This allows for better and more precise diagnosis and treatment of conditions like macular degeneration and retinal disease. Using technology similar to CT scans of internal organs, OCT involves a scattering a light that rapidly scans the eye to create an accurate cross-section, instead of using sound or radiofrequency waves like other imaging exams.

With the Stratus OCT system used in her office, Dr. Steinberg can evaluate and measure each layer of the retina through this image and compare it with normal, healthy retina images.
